I've been climbing and mountaineering for as long as I can remember, and it's still what I spend most of my time doing. When I'm not instructing, coaching, or guiding, you'll usually find me training at the climbing wall, trad climbing on sea cliffs or in the mountains, sport climbing in Spain, or exploring the scrambles of North Wales. I've trad climbed up to E2, sport climbed up to 8a, and bouldered up to 7C.
I enjoy helping people build skills and confidence in the mountains — whether that's learning to climb and navigate safely, coaching towards a specific goal, planning training, or guiding classic routes. Every day I run is tailored to the individual or group in front of me.
My focus is on learning, not just ticking routes. Rather than being dragged up hills or climbs, I want you to understand why you're doing things, take practical skills away, and leave feeling more confident to plan your own independent adventures — all while having a safe and enjoyable day out. Hearing about what people go on to do after a course is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.
I hold the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI) qualification — the highest summer qualification for climbing and mountaineering instruction in the UK — as well as the Winter Mountain Leader (WML). Experience matters just as much as qualifications, so I climb year-round and regularly attend further training and CPD.
Most courses are based in Snowdonia (Eryri) and the Peak District, but I also run bespoke days further afield. If you can't see exactly what you're looking for, or if the dates or locations don't quite work, just get in touch and we can plan something that fits.
